Cookley Eagles Angling Club and Cookley Angling Society are the two clubs that currently fish on the canal within the confines of Cookley Playing Fields.
Regular contests are fished throughout the year.
Some of the 16 pegs on this stretch of canal have recently been renovated. By 2020 most of this work will have been completed and it is hoped that further renovations will increase the peg numbers.
Cookley Eagles Angling Club are in the process of putting together three fishing kits for accompanied juniors to borrow for pleasure fishing on the canal, future plans will include the introduction of a junior fishing club.
