Welcome to Cookley Bowling Club
Established between 1951 and 1953 by dedicated members of the village, Cookley Bowling Club has grown from humble beginnings into a vibrant community hub. The original committee oversaw the careful design and laying of the grass green that remains the heart of our club today.
Our Facilities and History
The first clubhouse was a Nissen Hut, generously funded by a donation from Cookley Steel Wheels, which served as storage for bowling equipment. Later, thanks to support from Cookley Cricket Club, we acquired their former changing rooms, transforming them into our score and bowls hut. Over time, a new building was constructed where we gained a license to serve alcohol, marking an important milestone in our club’s development.
In the late 1970s, reflecting our expanding activities, we were renamed the Cookley Sports & Social Club. This change symbolised our commitment not only to bowling but also to fostering social connections within the community.
Competitive Play Across Multiple Leagues
Today, Cookley Bowling Club proudly fields six teams in the Kidderminster & District Mid-Week Bowling League and two teams in the Kidderminster Weekend League. This active participation ensures matches are played throughout the week and weekend, offering ample opportunities for members to engage in competitive play.
