Both Cookley Eagles Angling Club and Cookley Angling Society proudly manage fishing activities along the canal within Cookley Playing Fields. With 16 pegs available, anglers enjoy a well-maintained stretch of water perfect for regular contests held throughout the year.
Supporting the next generation of anglers
Recent renovations have enhanced several of the canal’s pegs, improving accessibility and fishing quality. By 2020, these upgrades will be completed with plans to increase peg numbers further, ensuring more opportunities for members and visitors alike.
Cookley Eagles Angling Club is committed to encouraging young anglers. They are developing three fishing kits that juniors can borrow when accompanied by an adult for recreational fishing on the canal. Additionally, future initiatives include establishing a junior fishing club to nurture interest and skills in angling among young people.
